Why every kit ships with an uninstaller

You’ve bought software before that disappeared.

A lifetime licence that lasted eight months. A tool that worked great until the guy running it lost interest. A “cloud” service that became a 404. If you’ve been anywhere near the internet in the last decade, you’ve been burned at least once. So have I — more times than I’d like to admit, and it taught me the most useful lesson I have: the exit matters more than the entrance.

Any company can make a sales page. The question is what happens in month eight, when you need help, or in year two, when we’ve moved on to other things.

So here’s how TWYN handles that, structurally rather than with promises:

The software runs on your machine. Not on our server, not on our goodwill. Once a kit is installed, it works offline, forever, whether we exist or not. Your laptop doesn’t check in with us before it lets Scratch open.

Every kit ships with its own uninstaller. Right there in the Start Menu, next to the kit itself. It removes what the kit installed and leaves your documents alone. Try asking some vendors where their uninstaller lives — if they have one at all.

Your downloads don’t expire. Buy a kit and the download stays available. Not “lifetime updates” (nobody can promise that honestly) — lifetime downloads of your version, checksummed and pinned, so the thing you bought is the thing you can always reinstall.

Hosted stuff has an exit ramp. Where we do run something for you — hosting, signal feeds — the deal includes your data and the self-host path if we ever shut it down. We can make that promise credibly because the kits are built to self-host from day one.

This isn’t generosity. It’s just the only honest way to sell software. A product that takes hostages isn’t a product, it’s a trap, and traps have a way of ending badly for the trapper too.

The uninstaller is the most expensive-looking thing in the box, and it costs nothing to build. It just requires meaning it.
